» Working On The Cover & New Gig To Announce

Darkane are happy to announce a dutch festival appearance. On August 30 we will play the Loud from the South festival in Klokgebouw/Strijp-S, Eindhoven. Other bands playing the festival are Carcass, Sabbat, Soulfly and many more. See you there!

We are currently working together with Fredrik Ödman, who did the cover for Layers of Lies, to do the cover for our upcoming album Demonic Art. Fredrik has done a great draft and we are all very excited about the final result. We will post it when it´s completed.

See you!

Take care,
/ Christofer

» Mixing Nearly Complete & Chicago Photo Recap

The mixing progress has been a little delayed due to circumstances beyond our control, but Peter has now set a very good, tight and aggressive sound to the album, and we are looking to finish the mixing any day now... or week.

If you live in the south of Sweden you should make sure to see us in Helsingborg at the Helsingborg Festivalen July 25th together with other bands such as Soilwork etc. There´s no fee and Darkane will play on Gröningen at 19:00. Be there!

We are also happy to announce that we´re playing three shows in Switzerland in November. These are the three dates:
› Thurs. 6 of Nov. 08 @ Nouveau Monde in Fribourg
› Fri. 7 of Nov. 08 @ La Bourdonnière in Le Locle (NE) Darknation Evening
› Sat. 8 of Nov. 08 @ Transilvania in Erstfeld (UR) Metalfest Uri

Also, thanks to all the Darkane fans for making Chicago such a blast! A special thank you goes out to Dan the man and Alexi Front for showing us the city. Here are some photos from our trip. The live photos were taken by Alexi Front, and the rest by ourselves. You can reach them by following This Link.

» Vocal Recording Video Blog Available!

How´s it going!? We are currently in Chicago, preparing for our show at the Chicago Powerfest tomorrow. Today we've been guided around the city by our good friends Dan and Alexi. Thanks a lot guys! Chicago is a beautiful city! Tomorrow is also gonna be Jens American live debut, and he is looking forward to this a lot!

We still have some mixing to do before we can send away the finished album to Nuclear Blast... about three more weeks, but I´m sure the end result will be very good.

Here´s our seventh video blog including Jens recording some vocals. We hope you´ll enjoy it.

Stay metal!

» Peter Mixing 'Demonic Art' & Stefan Rosqvist's Solo Album!

Hey there!

I'm currently in the studio mixing the new Darkane CD named 'Demonic art'. I spent the whole first day experimenting with the bass drum and snare drum. There are so many possibilities when mixing in a computer that one needs to set limits for how many things to try. I'm very bad at keeping within those limits. ;-) I think the production will sound great because what we have recorded sounds good. Also, I have to say that I'm very happy with the final outcome of the songs with vocals, and I think this will be a very solid CD.

Besides the Darkane recording I've also been busy mixing Stefan Rosqvist's first solo CD together with Stefan. He's a good friend of mine and a great guitar player. The album is titled 'The Guitar Diaries' and is an instrumental CD with lots of different moods and song styles. It ranges from more hard rock influenced tracks to very soft ones with trio setup (guitar, upright bass and drums). It would be wrong to say that the "softer" songs are jazzy since they're not in swing beat or anything, but they do have that loose attitude and sound. Chistofer (Darkane) is also featured on two songs and his guitar playing is nothing but fantastic on these songs! Personally, I am very happy with my drumming that sees me playing a big variety of styles. Stefan worked closely with Darkane on 'Layers of Lies' where he did a lot of the drum tracking and created all the sample and synth sounds. He's currently working with the samples/synths for our upcoming CD too.

You'll find more information about Stefan's 'The Guitar Diaries' and pre order here: www.liquidnoterecords.co.uk/news.html

Cheers
/ Peter

» Album Name & Song Titles Revealed Plus New Video Diary

Here´s the sixth video blog. It includes the recording of the bass and some guitar solos. Enjoy! Also, we have now decided to name the album "Demonic Art" after one of the songs. The lyrics are based on the same theme as on "Organic Canvas" (from our previous album "Layers of Lies"), about an individual planning his next exhibition of flesh.

Here are a few more song titles:

Variations of an eye crush (intro)
Still in Progress
Leaving existence
Execution 44
The killing of I
Sole Survivor
Absolution
Wrong Grave (instrumental)
Wrath Connection
Demigod

Right now Peter and Klas are mixing the new album. We are also rehearsing and preparing for our trip to Chicago and the Chicago Powerfest in a few weeks. You don´t wanna miss that if you live in the area! We are gonna play in direct support to Testament May 3rd. This will also be Jens debut on American soil!

This is far away in the future, but we are happy to announce that we have been confirmed for two Swiss shows in November:
Nouveau Monde, Fribourg November 7th 2008
Metalfest Uri, Ersfeld November 8th 2008

Stay metal and don´t forget to register on our forum and discuss our video blogs!

» Latest Video Diary Tours Helsingborg & Recording Wraps Up

Hello boys and girls.... and mutants!

Welcome to the fifth video blog post. Thanks to you who have followed us so far! This post differs a little from earlier posts since I got so tired of us being filmed in the same room over and over, so I decided to take our great camera guy Per out to show you what our hometown Helsingborg looks like. If you are a fan of Darkane/Soilwork/The Defaced/Terror 2000 or any other Helsingborg based band you might enjoy seeing what the streets look like where we wandered around as teenagers dreaming of playing the big stages. So this is not an ordinary video blog post with us working in the studio. More studio footage will come up soon for sure. And... if you see anything in my car that is not metal... I can only blame my wife!

I have multiple reasons to celebrate right now! A few days ago my lovely wife Jennie gave birth to our second daughter who we´ll name Amanda. Today I also played my last notes on the album. I met Peter in the studio and together we recorded my last four solos on the album. Peter is the best solo producer there is. He comes up with great ideas when I get stuck playing the ordinary licks or scales. I think what we came up with for this album is really good! Jens is back in Stockholm now, Jörgen is working as an engineer to start up a factory in Iran, I change diapers and Peter and Klas are preparing the mix of the album.

Until next time,

/ Christofer
